How do we find Design work?

There are several channels by which to work with us here at Wild Apple Design

I think it’s fair to say that freelance companies in the educational publishing arena often get overlooked due to their size, or accessibility. Here at Wild Apple Design we have worked hard over the years to build relationships with trusted freelancers, allowing us to scale up where needed. We have also adapted to the changing industry landscape and developed our accessibility, opening up several channels by which publishers can access our services.

Editorial Project Manager (EPM)

The EPMs can be either in-house or freelance, having been asked to source a trusted designer. This is often repeat business which we feel is born out of our successful working relationships, combined with our experience, skillsets and flexibility.

Packager

We work with several packagers who see us as their trusted go-to designers, often being included in their tender process when pitching for work. Sometimes our role is one of consultancy, advising on the design of a scheme, or specific elements, especially if the project includes high-end design. More recently we have been considered a 'safe pair of hands' when it comes to unusual digital resources.

Ad Hoc

Occasionally projects arrive to us on an Ad Hoc basis, either through previous clients, or from recommendations. This can be anything from specific design elements, such as; icons, covers and logos, up to full schemes. We’ve built a reputation for being problem solvers and work arriving through this channel is often from product managers with a gap in resources, on a fast turnaround.

Direct with Publishers

Projects direct from publishers arrive from three key areas:

  1. Outsource Services

  2. Editors or Production Managers we have previously worked with

  3. Direct from the Commissioning Designer

Work generated through this channel is either part of a tender, where we are pitching against other freelance designers, or a direct handover where we are the first choice for the project.

Rest assured, no matter how NEW design work lands on our desks, we are a safe pair of hands and will go above and beyond to ensure your expectations are exceeded. We look forward to potentially working with you in the future.

How do you get your projects and how do you find channels for keeping the work flowing?
