What does it mean to be a designer?

Meet the Wild Apple Design team - SAM

Wild Apple Design project manager Sam | staff profile

What do you see as your role at Wild Apple Design?

I like to see myself as the fixer apple as well as a project manager, often handling text heavy, multi-faceted schemes. Also, along with Gary, I am helping to direct Wild Apple into new directions with the development of the ‘Local’ side of the business.

What are the values that drive you?

Integrity - Attention to detail - Passion

What project have you enjoyed working on the most recently and why?

Weirdly I enjoy nothing more than a complicated text heavy, asset rich scheme to get my teeth into. So I would have to say Oxford University’s ‘Exam Trainer’ scheme which saw management of huge levels of assets and rearranging content for adaptation into 3 languages.

What piece of advice would you give to someone entering the design industry

Network, Network, Network and get yourself experience in a variety of areas. In the long term this will give you an advantage in terms of ‘understanding the bigger picture’ and expectations from designers and editors alike.

Where can we find you when not at the office / barn?

When not working at Wild Apple HQ you can find me wandering the countryside, or exploring the coast. I’m a keen fisherman and also love wile away the hours creating something delicious in the kitchen.
